Carpet Cleaning on a Budget

If you are low on funds, carpet cleaning on a budget doesn’t mean that you have to have carpets that still look dingy. On the contrary, the main investment in carpet cleaning is always going to be taking the time to get the stains out before they set in, as well as vacuuming once a week.

So if you are carpet cleaning on a budget, the best thing that you can do is make sure that your carpets are as clean as possible before you hire any professionals. The first thing to do is make sure that your vacuum cleaner filter is clean and then vacuum the carpets several times, making sure to get out a much dust out of them as possible. Remember, the less that professionals have to do once they show up, the less they are going to charge you.

The next step to carpet cleaning on a budget is stain removal. Stain removal can be done with a homemade formula, with simple ingredients that you have lying around the house.  This means that you don’t have to spend a lot of money on pretreatment solutions if you don’t have a lot of money to spend.

The formula for the stain remover is 1 teaspoon mild dishwashing detergent, plus 1 teaspoon white vinegar, mixed with one quart of warm water. If the stain is fresh, mop up as much of the spill as possible before you apply the stain remover so that it can make contact with the carpet fibers. If the carpet stain is set in, apply the stain remover to the outer edges first and then work it in towards the center of the stain. It is easiest to do this with a clean, terry cloth bath towel.

Once you have removed as much of the stain as possible, let the area dry for a few days. If the stain does not come out right away, don’t panic. You can repeats this method for as many times as it takes.

This carpet cleaning solution works on almost all stains to some degree, so if you are carpet cleaning on a budget you won’t have go out and buy some expensive chemicals that may actually harm or bleach the carpeting.

Now that you have the carpet vacuumed and the stains removed, a professional carpet cleaning will be less expensive because the time that it will take and the cleaning solution needed will be as minimal as possible.

Another tip for carpet cleaning on a budget is to remove as much furniture from the carpeted areas as possible before the cleaners arrive to save the labor cost of them moving it for you.
